When we first met with Daynon, he had DIYed a concept for The Black Foundation. The problem? He knew how he wanted things to look but didn’t know how to get them there or even communicate the value of the non-profit. After a successful career in corporate real estate, he was ready to pour his energy into providing a seat at the table for others in Corporate Real Estate.
In both the non-profit space and corporate real estate industries, it’s easy for things to start to feel identical to one another, soulless or overly corporate. When working with The Black Foundation we wanted to make sure that the message and identify created stood out from the crowd and incited action among their audience.
At the start of each branding process, we bring together teams and hone in on brand strategy. In our work for The Black Foundation it was no different. As a non-profit, we worked through the founder’s story, identifying clear moments of intersection with their donor as well as the receipients of the non-profits work. By the end of the intensive core values, brand behaviors and brand scripts were developed for each audience, creating a strong foundation for the brand for years to come.
With the visual identity, the founder wanted to keep all visual elements within grayscale and a tight palette reinforcing the name, The Black Foundation. Playing with a liquid titanium application of metal and leaning into neutrals, we reinforced the core values of strength and identity with a brand that grabbed attention. Our team firmly believes non-profit branding should be just as visually incredible as for-profit entities and brands. Our work for The Black Foundation is no exception.
